Almora was founded in 1563 is a beautiful town at the altitude of 1650 meters of kumaon region in Uttarakhand.It is situated on a horse shoe shape hill surrounded by forests and pine trees. On the backdrop the massive view of snow capped mountains and peaks of Great Himalayan range is big attraction among the tourist .

Almora is witnessed of various battle and Dynasties. The marks of it could be easily seen overall the Almora district.  The king Balo Kalyan of Chand Dynasty founded this beautiful place in 1563 and Swami Vivekanand , the very first hindu Saint who gained massive popularity amount the other religion and got enormous attention in United States, had mediated and enlightened in a cave near Almora. I

In 1790 Almora was captured by the Gorkhas and British government started ruling over this place form 1815.

In spite of several dynasties and government ruled inAlmora, it succeeds to retain the culture and tradition.

What to visit-

Chitai Golu Devata Temple-  Chitai Devi temple is dedicated to Lord Golu. It is 8 km away from Almora, a most popular temple in Almora. There are many temples of Golu Devata  in Uttarakhand specially in Kumaun. Chittai, Champawat and Ghorakhal are the most famous out of them. Golu Devata is famous for justice and gives quick justice to devotees. After fulfillment of wishes devotee offers bells to Lord Golu in return.

Bright and Corner- Only 2 km away form Almora provide great view of sunset and sunrise form peaks of Great Himalaya. Vivekanand librara and Ramkrishna Kutir is situated near by that place. There one can find books of philosophy and Hindu literature.
Public Museum Almora- It provides best way to get a close view of art culture, tradition, life styles of Almora region.
Nanda Devi Temple- This ancient temple of Almora district is major attraction for tourist. It is very old temple. Stone carved wall and deep faith on temple makes it major part of Almora visit.
